   Isn’t maroon a oo instead of oh

      Maroon as in “don’t maroon me on this island”, yes. But the red-brown colour “maroon” I pronounce rhyming with “grown”. Don’t you?

   I believe that maroon (the colour) should be pronounced ‘maroan’, as in brooch is pronounced ‘broach’.
   Does anyone know of any other words where the ‘oo’ is pronounced ‘oa’?
