What is the longest word that includes ce which makes a sh sound.

  3. Jennifer Kellogg says:

    How about grocery / groceries?

    • alison says:

Do you say a /sh/sound in ‘grocer’? I don’t, I say a /s/, and the Macquarie Dictionary agrees that’s the Australian English pronunciation. Even if you did say /sh/ for the letter ‘c’, the ‘e’ is representing a vowel, it’s not part of a ‘ce’ grapheme.
