    Some of these are igh sounds and some are ee sounds.

      OMG you were right, I’m so sorry about that! I’m not sure how that happened. It’s hard to edit one’s own work but I paid a friend who is a professional editor to go through all my lists a while ago, and she didn’t spot it either. Thankyou so much for pointing this out! Alison

        Hi again, I changed this page then realised that the problem was that I hadn’t made clear that the “ie” spellings on this page are NOT digraphs, these are words where the letter “i” represents one sound (either “i as in alien” or “i as in client”) and the letter “e” represents a different sound. So I’ve changed it back and added “two sounds” to the title. Hope that’s now clear and thanks for showing me that it wasn’t before.
